Motihari : Police seized 736 cartons Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) manufactured in Haryana from a truck on May 14, 2020, in East Champaran District in North Bihar.
Police, during patrolling, intercepted the truck on NH28 near Chakia on May 14 evening and seized 736 cartons of IMFL. But, the truck driver managed to escape leaving the truck behind. Police seized the truck. It is said the liquor laden truck was coming from Muzaffarpur via Madhuban.
SDPO, Chakia, Shailendra Kumar, said that police seized 6,500 bottles of IMFL worth over Rs 50 lakh in the market. He suspected that an inter-state gang of liquor smugglers was behind liquor smuggling in North Bihar during the lockdown period. Police have lodged a case with Chakia police station against the unknown truck driver in this connection.
