Buxar : Police seized 4,000 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and also arrested a person from village Chakki Laxman Dera under Bhariyar police outpost on May 28, 2019, in Buxar district. Police sent the arrested person to jail after lodging a named FIR against him under the Prohibition & Excise Act.

SHO, Bhariyar police outpost, said that police had received information that a big consignment of IMFL had been smuggled from Uttar Pradesh via river Ganga into village Chakki Laxman Dera. Police immediately swung into action and conducted raids at Chakki Laxman Dera village when the liquor smugglers were unloading IMFL from a Scorpio. Seeing police, the liquor smugglers escaped but police arrested the driver of the Scorpio Santosh Kumar Yadav, son of Mamam Yadav of Visheshan Chakki Dera village under Bhariyar police outpost. He said that police seized 4,000 bottles of IMFL packed in 140 cartons and the Scorpio.

Couple arrested with liquor bottles : In another incident, police arrested Bengali Prasad and his wife Bechani Devi of village Noniapur under Krishnabrahm police station in Buxar district on May 27, 2019, night, and also seized 50 bottles of IMFL. Police sent them to jail after lodging a named FIR against them.

SHO, Krishnagarha police station, said that police had launched vehicle checking drive near Vishnu temple when they saw Bengali Prasad and his wife Bechan Devi. Seeing police, they tried to escape but police chased and arrested the couple and also seized 50 bottles of IMFL from their possession.
