Police seize 13,920 bottles of IMFL, Mini truck in Bhojpur, ASI injured

Ara : Bhojpur police, on a tip off, conducted raids near Vasdevpur Mor under Bihia police station around December 8, 2018,   midnight and seized 13,920 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL). An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Umeshwar Singh was injured when the liquor smugglers ran over him in their bid to escape. The injured ASI was admitted to Sadar Hospital, Ara. An FIR has been lodged with Bihia police station under the Prohibition & Excise Act and police are conducting raids to arrest the liquor smugglers.

SHO, Bihia police station, Ravindra Kumar said that he got information that a big consignment of IMFL was being brought ovder from Utter Pradesh after which immediately swung into action and started intensive vehicle checking at Bihia roundabout around December 8 midnight. During checking of vehicles, police seized 13,920 bottles of IMFL packed in 290 cartons loaded on a Mini truck near Vasdevpur under Bihia police station. The truck driver and liquor smugglers escaped in another vehicle leaving the mini truck behind. In their bid to escape, the driver of the vehicle ran over an ASI Umeshwar Singh and injured him.
