Gopalganj: The police on Wednesday night carried out raids at villages under Kateya police station in Gopalganj district and seized 27 litres of country liquor. Two persons were also arrested in this connection.
Police said that an Excise officer Rampravesh Rai received information that liquor was being sold at Sidhariya Pasi Tola and Kabarhi villages under Kateya police station. The cops carried out raid at the house of one Sanjay Pasi at Sidhariya Pasi Tola and recovered 15 litres of country liquor from there. Though Sanjay managed to escape from there, the team arrested one Paras Turha, a resident of Bhagvanpur village.
Later, the cops conducted raid at the house of one Guddu Mandal at Kabarhi village and seized 12 litres country liquor from there. Mandal was also arrested. Both the arrested persons were sent to jail on Thursday after lodging of FIRs against them under Excise Laws.
