Ara : Bhojpur police, on a tip off, seized about 200 kg of explosives from a grocery store at Jwala Market, Piro Bazaar, under Piro police station on December 21, 2018, late evening. Police arrested the shop owner Rakesh Kumar alias Rinku for interrogation.

SHO, Piro police station, said that he got information that explosives were are being supplied from a grocery shop to different parts of Bhojpur district. Police, he said, immediately swung into action and conducted raid at a grocery shop at Jawala Market at Piro Bazaar on December 21 late evening and seized explosives in large quantity. He said that police seized ammonia, black powder, sulpher, 17 kg of Ammonium, 49 kg of baking soda, 34 kg of kalami sora, 12 kg of barood, Mica, 25 kg of yellow Mica, and 50 kg of Phosphorus.

The SHO said that the arrested shop keeper confessed that the explosives were smuggled from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, and also told police that he had sold some explosives in Hasan Bazaar area. The SHO added that the explosives were sold in different parts of Bhojpur, Buxar and Rohtas districts. He said the police are trying to identify the persons who purchased explosives. He also said that explosives business was going on in the area for the last three months.

The SHO further said that the police were looking into link of some naxals or terrorists to this business and hence taking Call Detail Recort (CDR) of the shopkeeper.

It may be be mentioned here Piro has been a den of naxal activists and they had planted bombs beneath a bridge at village Kathrai under Charpokhari police station in 2015 but timely information averted an explosion as police seized 5 can bombs from the place. The SHO said that the naxals had exploded near Piro railway station earlier.
