Police seize 192 bottles of foreign liquor from car in Patna, one held

Patna : Police seized 192 bottles of foreign liquor from a Fiat Linea bearing registration number of Bengal near Dhanarua police station in Patna district at 4 am on March 5, 2017, during checking of vehicles. SHO, Dhanarua police station, Rohan Kumar, said the liquor consignment was smuggled into Bihar from Hazaribagh in Jharkhand. Seeing police, Fiat Linea owner Bittu Kumar sped away but cops chased it.

Panicked at the fast approaching police vehicle , Bittu stopped the car on the road and escaped with driver Kamta Prasad taking advantage of darkness leaving the car behind, SHO Rohan Kumar said. But, cops chased them and arrested Kamta Prasad and seized 192 bottles of foreign liquor from Fiat Linea though Bittu managed to escape, he said. Kamta told policemen that Bittu alone knows to whom the liquor consignment was to be delivered. Police have seized Fiat Linea, the SHO said adding police were searching for Bittu.
