Ara : Bhojpur police, on a tip off, seized 144 cartons of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and also arrested three liquor smugglers on December 27, 2017, though the driver of the truck managed to escape with another person. Police also seized a truck and a Safari. An FIR has been lodged with Udwantnagar police station under new Excise Act in this connection.The arrested liquor smugglers were sent to jail.
SHO, Udwantnagar police station, Rajiv Kumar said that police got information that a big consignment of liquor is being smuggled from UP to Patna to be sold during New Year celebration. He immediately swung into action and started checking vehicles on Ara-Sasaram main road near Udwantnagar under the same police station.
When police intercepted a truck, the driver and his associate jumped off the truck and escaped. Police seized the truck and also a Safari which was following the truck. When police searched the truck, they found 144 Cartons of IMFL. Police arrested three persons moving on the Safari.
