Police resort to lathicharge on 102 Ambulance service employees

Patna: Police resorted to lathicharge and used water canon `Varun’ to disperse agitating employees of 102 Ambulance service at Gardanibagh as the agitating employees were bent on self immolation on December 22.

The employees of 102 Ambulance service are on agitation at Gardanibagh for the past several days demanding immediate ban on contractual system in the service. Some of the employees said that none of the senior officials nor the leaders of the ruling alliance had come to talk to them. Some of the employees said that that they had also met deputy CM Tejasvi Yadav and apprised him of their demands. “However, nothing happened after that,” they complained adding that they had decided to self-immolate themselves on December 22.

As the employees were preparing themselves for self-immolation, policemen reached there and resorted to lathicharge in which some of the employees sustained injuries. The cops also used water cannon to disperse the employees. Police later arrested three employees on charge of instigating their colleagues for self-immolation.
