Patna: Police resorted to lathicharge and firing to disperse a violent mob trying to set afire house of Kesar Singh, advocate, son of former IAS officer late Ram Singar Singh, at RPS Mor under Rupaspur police station, Patna, after body of his driver Kaushal, 20, was found hanging from a tree in the compound of the house on November 11. Kaushal was resident of Nayatola, Danapur.
While the house inmates said Kaushal had committed suicide, the family members of the deceased alleged that he had been murdered and were strongly protesting it. Soon hundreds of people gathered there and resorted to brickbatting, broke the windscreen of the car and tried to set the house ablaze. With tension escalating, force from neibhouring police stations and Vajra Vahan were called on the spot. Police first resorted to lathicharge to disperse the mob and then fired around 12 rounds in the air. One person was injured in the incident. Police are probing into the reasons behind the death of Kaushal.
