Ara : Police recovered body of a newly married woman from roadside at village Sahiyara under Imadpur police station in Bhojpur district on June 21, 2019, night and brought it over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.

Police recovered a mobile from beside the body. The deceased was identified as Leelavati Devi alias Puja Kumari, wife of Vikas Paswan of Baidarabad in Arwal district. An FIR has been lodged with the police in this connection.

SHO, Imadpur police station, Sunil Kumar said that Leelavati Devi, daughter of Kishori Paswan of Bansdihari village under Sahar police station, was married to Vikas Paswan of Baidarabad in Arwal district on May 6, 2019, and she was missing for the last five days. Even her family members did not know about her whereabouts.

The SHO said that Leelavati Devi committed suicide by consuming poison. She had injuries at the back of her head and was bleeding.  He said the exact cause of her death would be clear after the post-mortem report is received.

Viaks Paswan said that her wife Leelawati Devi was not happy with him and alleged she had extra-marital relation with her boyfriend. He further said that Leelavati had told him about it and had married with her lover secretly and she was pregnant.

The SHO said that Leelavati Devi, after 17 days of marriage, went to attend a marriage ceremony and her husband went to Hyderabad. She went missing from the house and police arrested her on June 10, 2019, and called her parents and in-laws to the police station but Leelavati Devi refused to recognise anyone and so all left her and returned. Leelavati had come to her aunt (bua) Kusum Kuer six days ago at Sahiyara village but returned after spending two days with her.
