Police outpost ransacked after recovery of body of missing youth

Madhepura :  Angry over recovery of body of a missing youth Shahanshah Singh from village Barikhal under Phulaut police outpost in Madhepura district on April 26, 2016, the villagers ransacked the police outpost and pelted its office, located on the Revenue Kutchery on temporary basis, with stones forcing cops to flee the place. Few mediapersons also sustained injuries in stone pelting by the villagers.

The villagers alleged the OP incharge Rajesh Kumar did not take any action even as the youth was missing for the last four days and his kin had received several threatening calls from a particular number which too was given to him. Shahanshah Singh’s kin had even lodged an FIR with police alleging he had been kidnapped from village Phulaut itself. But, police did no take the matter seriously and OP incharge Rajesh Kumar instead seized the mobile on which criminals had made threatening calls. The OP incharge told Shahanshah’s father that he had sent his son to Delhi and framing a gentleman, the villagers alleged.

Madhepura SP Vikas Kumar reached Phulaut to take stock of the situation and immediately transferred OP incharge Rajesh Kumar. Sunil Kumar Bhagat has been appointed the new OP incharge.
