Buxar : A police driver was killed in an attack by the liquor smugglers in Jawahi Diyar area under Nainijor Police Outpost in Buxar District on November 15, 2020, evening. The deceased was identified as Sri Niwas Yadav of Karnamepur in Bhojpur district. Police arrested two youth of Ara in Bhojpur District in this connection.

SHO, Nainijor Police Outpost, Anil Kumar, said that he got information that two youth on two motorcycles were going towards Nainijor with cartons of liquor on November 15, 2020, morning. He immediately swung into action and headed towards Nainijor. Seeing police, the liquor smugglers left the cartons of liquor and escaped. But, police deputed the driver Sri Niwas Yadav and a constable Shambhu Nath Sharma near the cartons of liquor and chased the liquor smugglers. Meanwhile, some supporters of the liquor smugglers attacked the driver and the constables with traditional weapons injuring them seriously and escaped.

When the SHO returned after arresting the liquor smugglers Shivanshu Kumar, son of Rakesh Kumar of Maulabagh under Ara Town police station,and Uma Shankar Yadav, son of Brahma Yadav of Bampali, he found the driver and the constable lying inĀ  pool of blood. He immediately admitted the injured to a private clinic where the driver succumbed to his injuries. Police also seized 8 cartons of liquor, two motorcycles, and a mobile from their possession of arrested liquor smugglers. A named FIR has been lodged with police against them and they were sent them to jail after interrogation.
