Patna: Four days after the gruesome murder of two brothers-Abhishek and Sagar-inside their rented house on Jamal Road under Gandhi Maidan police station, Patna, came to light on November 26,  Patna Police claimed that deceased’s own brother Amit Kumar alias Bholu was the mastermind of the twin murder. Five other associates of Amit have also been arrested and the weapons used in the crime have been recovered, said Senior SP (SSP), Patna, Manu Maharaaj.
Talking to mediapersons, the SSP said that soon after the killings, an FIR was lodged with Gandhi Maidan police station under different sections of IPC on November 26, 2016. He said that a police team headed by City SP (Central) Chandan Kushwaha was constituted to crack the case. Officials of the Technical Cell and SHO, Gandhi Maidan police station, were also included in the team for scientific investigation of the case, he added.
The SSP said that the police team collected vital information and also picked up several evidences including footages of CCTVs from the spot where the two brothers were murdered. He said that during cellphone analysis, the cops came to know that Amit was hovering around the crime scene regularly when the killings were carried out on November 23 and 24. He said that police also came to know through the locals that Amit had some scuffle with his two brothers over purchase of a truck few days ago. He said that when the team tried to trace Amit’s location, they came to know that Amit was present at his native house and he was arrested from there for interrogation.

Acting on the disclosures made by Amit, police team also arrested his five associates, the SSP said.  The SSP said that during interrogation, Amit made startling revelations about the gruesome murder of his two brothers. Amit said that he had talked to his two brothers about a truck but they refused to give a truck to him and drove him away from the house, the SSP said adding that this infuriated Amit so much that he decided to eliminate his two brothers.
The SSP said that Amit contacted some criminals of his native village Narayanpur and Katar and made a deal with them to eliminate his brothers. He said that Amit also gave them a supari of Rs 2.5 lakh and gave their Patna address. Though he sent the group to eliminate his brothers several times, the contract killers could not succeed in their attempts, he said.

The SSP said that on November 23, Amit along with Nitish, Sachchidanand and Santosh reached New Market, Patna, from where they
purchased hammer and knives. He said that then Amit sent the killers to his brothers’ house to kill them and stood outside the
house. The SSP said that the criminals first hit Sagar with a hammer on his head after which he became unconscious. He said that after that the criminals strangulated him to death with his gamcha (towel) and then informed Amit about it. Soon after that, Amit entered e the house and hid the body in puja room and locked it from outside, the SSP said.
The SSP said that on November 24, Amit along with Santosh, Ramesh and Ritesh reached his brother’s house again and hit Abhishek with a hammer and he fell unconscious. He said that after that Abhishek’s throat was slit and his private parts were cut and later acid was poured on it to hide the evidence.

SSP Maharaaj said that the arrested persons had been identified as Amit Kumar alias Bholu (Narayanpur, ps-Hasanbazar Piro, Bhojpur), Nitish Kumar (Narayanpur, ps-Hasanbazar Pito, Bhojpur), Sachchdinand Kumar (Katar, ps-Hasanbazar Piro, Bhojpur), Santosh Choudhary ( Narayanpur, ps- Hasanbazar Piro, Bhojpur), Ramesh Singh alias Bamwa (Narayanpur, ps-Hasanbazar Piro, Bhojpur) and Ritesh Kumar (Narayanpur, ps-Hasanbazar Piro, Bhojpur). He said that police also seized eight cellphones, three knives used in the crime besides a hammer. The SSP said that the case would be put on speedy trial.
