Patna : Police on June 6, 2017, resorted to baton charge on Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) members protesting the extremely poor pass percentage at the Class XII exam 2017 results conducted by Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB). Police resorted to lathicharge after the ABVP members allegedly threw burning tyres inside the BSEB campus raising slogans against the chief minister, education minister and BSEB chairman. ABVP is an organisation of students affiliated to the RSS.

Hundreds of Intermediate examinees, who failed to clear the BSEB Class XII exams, continued their protest over the poor pass percentage at the exam for the seventh day on June 6. Over 64% examinees failed to clear the exam in 2017. Hundreds of students led by AISF also staged protest outside BSEB office and later tried to march towards the residence of the chief minister but were stopped by police. The students were demanding re-evaluation of their answer-books. The Inter exam results were declared on May 30, 2017.

Meanwhile, the indefinite fast by AAP leaders led by its spokesman Babloo Kumar Prakash to protest poor results at BSEB class XII exam results continued for the third day on June 6. The AAP is demanding improvement in quality of education in Bihar school. It has demanded resignation of CM Nitish Kumar and Education Minister Ashok Choudhary on moral ground saying they had failed to improve quality of education in the government schools.
