Sasaram : Police arrested a youth from a bus at Tenduni Chowk under Bikramganj police station in Rohtas District in South Bihar on September 18, 2021, evening, and seized 500 live cartridges from his possession. The arrested person has been identified as Md Mushtaqe Alam of village Mogalbigaha under Bakhtiyarpur police station (PS) in Patna district. During interrogation, Mushtaq Alam revealed names of other arms smugglers and purchasers.
Rohtas SP Ashish Bharati said that vehicle checking drive was going on at Tenduni Chowk under Bikramganj PS in view of the ensuing Panchayat elections. Meanwhile, police got information that a youth was travelling in a bus with live cartridges from Sasaram. Police started searching buses and during the drive arrested Md Mushtaque Alam and seized 500 live cartridges (300 of .315 caliber and 200 of .32 caliber) from his possession.
The SP further said that Mushtaq, during interrogation, revealed names of his associates. The SP added that a police team has been formed to conduct raids and arrest arms smugglers.
