Ara : Bhojpur police arrested a woman Heena Khatoon and sent her to jail on March 19, 2017, for allegedly kidnapping and trying to sell a teenage girl for Rs 5,000.
SHO , Woman Police Station Poonam Kumari, said that Heena Khatoon, daughter of Md Shahauhu Hashmi of Bhagalpur village under Piro police station in Bhojpur district, was living with her father even after her marriage. She lured a 15 year old girl on March 3, 2017, and brought her to Ara. Later, she handed over the girl to a woman Durga Kuer of Dusadhi Badhar under Piro police station.
Durga Kuer planned to sell the girl to a person at Rs 5,000 but the girl knew all about the conspiracy and slipped from the clutch of her tormentor and escaped to Mughalsarai in Utter Pradesh. The girl was recovered on March 6, 2017, with the help of Child Helpline and kept with the Short-Stay Home for Women at Ara. On March 13, 2017, a case was lodged with Woman Police Station under Immoral Traffic Act on the statement of the girl. Police had arrested Durga Kuer earlier and forwarded her to jail.
