Ara : Police, on a tip off, conducted raids near Sun Temple at Chandawa under Nawada police station (PS), Ara, in Bhojpur District in South Bihar, and arrested three arms suppliers when they were about to supply arms to their customers. Police also seized five pistols, 24 live cartridges, three mobile phone, and two motorcycles from their possession. Two of their associates escaped under the cover of darkness.
The arrested arms suppliers have been identified as Shabu alias Arjun Kumar Singh, 25, son of Shatrudhan Singh of Maravatiya village under Ara Muffassil police station, Chhotu Singh, 19, son of Hare Krishna Singh of Mahuli village under Ara Muffassil police station, and Rohit Kumar, 25, son of Ajay Kumar Singh of Ramnagar under Nawada police station. A named FIR has been lodged with Nawada police station against them and the police sent them to jail after interrogation.
Bhojpur SP Har Kishore Rai said that he got information that five arms suppliers were to supply arms near Sun Temple under Nawada police station on September 1, 2020, evening, after which he formed a police team which conducted raids and arrested three arms suppliers from the spot and seized firearms and live cartridges from their possession though two of of their associates escaped under the cover of darkness. The SP said that Shabu alias Arjun Kumar Singh ,who has criminal background, is the mastermind of the gang while two others are suppliers.
The SP stated that police seized three pistols, 24 live cartridges, three blank magazines, and a motorcycle from the possession of Arjun Kumar Singh, a pistol, a motorcycle, and two mobile phones from Chhotu Singh, and one pistol and a mobile phone from Rohit Kumar. Shabu has link with Mahuli under Ara Muffassil police station and Posawa under Gadhani police station, the SP said.
The SP said that these miscreants dealt in arms and also supplied arms on rent to criminals and added that it is not clear so far as to when they brought over the arms to sell them in the district. He said that all the seized arms are country made with Made in USA written over them. The arms also suppliers supplied arms on rent and got Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 for each rented arms. The criminals, after committing crimes, returned arms to them. The SP added the arrested arms suppliers have disclosed names of their associates and police are conducting raids to arrest them.
