Ara : Bhojpur police cracked the case of loot of jewellery worth Rs 6.5 lakh from Laxmi Jewellers at near Ara Circuit House on Pakari Road, Ara, on June 21, 2021 night, by arresting four miscreants including a goldsmith. Police seized a countrymade pistol, two live cartridges, two mobile phones, a 300 gram gold biscuit, and Rs. 1.5 lakh cash from their possession.

The miscreants were identified as Suraj Gupta alias Nandan Kumar, 24, son of Sanjeet Sah;  Chhotu Kumar, 26, son of Ashok Kumar Gupta;  Suraj Kumar alias Tiger, 22, son of Subhash Upadhyaya of M P Bagh under Ara Town police station PS), and a goldsmith Sachin Deshmukh, 31, son of Sarjeya Rawat of Machhua Toli near Badi Masjid under Ara Town PS. Police are conducting raids to arrest the rest two miscreants.

Bhojpur SP Rakesh Kumar Dubey on June 24, 2021, said  that some unidentified armed miscreants had looted jewellery worth about Rs. 6.5 lakh from Laxmi Jewellers at near Ara Circuit House at Pakadi road on June 21, 2021, night, at pistol point after making the shop-keeper captive. The incident could not be captured on the CCTV as it was out of order.

Taking serious note of the incident, the SP formed a police team led by himself to investigate the matter and also arrest the miscreants. Police team arrested four miscreants within 48 hours of incident and also recovered a major part of the looted articles. SP Dubey said that the miscreants got the looted jewellery melted at a shop at Machhua Toli and  police also arrested the goldsmith Sachin Deshmukh.

The SP said that  police arrested Suraj Kumar alias Tiger from near Ara railway station when he was to leave for New Delhi. On his revelation, police arrested Chhotu Kumar and Nandan Kumar. Police recovered cash from their possession.
