Sasaram : Rohtas police arrested seven persons including six women on May 30, 2019, for allegedly snatching gold chains and earrings from over a dozen women who had come to a congregation at village Sanjhauli under the same police station. Police sent them to jail after interrogation.
Police also seized a stolen gold chain from their possession. Two of the arrested women belonged to Kochas in Rohtas while the rest four women are from Mohammadabad (Gazipur) in Uttar Pradesh. Police also seized their luxury car.
SHO, Sanjhauli police station, Subhash Kumar Singh said that hundreds of women had come to attend a congregation of Vihangam Yog on May 27 & May 28, 2019, at Sanjhauli where six women and mastermind of the gang came in a luxury car. The women snatched gold chains and earrings from about a dozen women gathered there.
Pooja Devi of village Susadhi instituted an FIR regarding snatching of her gold chain. After institution of FIR, police swung into action and arrested a woman of village Koni under Sanjhauli police station red handed while snatching earrings from a woman there. When interrogated, the arrested woman revealed that her gang had six women and a man and they had come there to snatch gold chain and earrings from the devotees. Police arrested the rest five women of the gang and driver of the luxury car but they did not reveal the name of the mastermind of the gang who, they said, escaped with all the gold chains and earrings.
