Ara : Police, on a tip off, conducted raids at Barap Tola under Gadhani police station in Bhojpur District and arrested five liquor smugglers and also seized 53 cartons of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) on March 21, 2020, though the mastermind of the gang escaped from the spot.
The arrested liquor smugglers were identified as Dinesh Paswan and his brother Vikki Paswan, sons of Nand Ji Paswan of Barap Tola under Gadhani police station, Ram Bihari Ram, son of Srinath Ram of Jasidih under Piro police station, Sunil Ram, son of late Janardan Ram of Baisadih under Piro police station in Bhojpur district, and Md Haleem, son of Md Noor Mohammad of Urki under Minapur police station in Muzzaffarpur District.
Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar, talking to the mediapersons on March 21, 2020, evening said that he got information that liquor smugglers had brought big consignment of IMFL at Baarap Tola on Sahagi road under Gadhani police station in Bhojpur district and were trying to sell the same after which he formed a police team and directed it to conduct raid at Barap Tola and arrest the liquor smugglers.
The police team immediately conducted raids at Barap Tola. Seeing police, the liquor smugglers tried to escape but police chased and nabbed all the five liquor smugglers and also seized 1,809 bottles of IMFL packed in 53 cartons from a room of a house there. The SP said that the mastermind of the gang Santosh Singh, son of Bateshwar Singh of Semraon Tola, Dular, under Charpokhari police station succeeded in escaping from the spot.
The SP said that a named FIR was lodged by Gadhani police station under Prohibition & Excise Act against the five arrested persons and they were sent to jail after interrogtation.
