Ara : Bhojpur police, on a tip off, arrested five arms smugglers from village Bakharia under Ara Muffassil police station on September 16, 2017, and forwarded them to jail. Police recovered a revolver, a pistol, a pen pistol, a dozen live rounds of different caliber, five mobile phones and two motorcycles from their possession.

SDPO, Sanjay Kumar, said that after getting information, Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar formed a police team that conducted raid at a garden at village Bakharia where four persons were sitting with their two motorcycles being parked there. Seeing police, they tried to escape but the police chased and arrested them. The arrested persons were identified as Prince Kumar of Bakharia, Pradeep Kumar of Manpur, Vivek Kumar of Ghodadei and Raju Pandit of Amma.

Police seized a loaded revolver and three live cartridges of 0.38mm caliber from Prince Kumar, one pen pistol from Pradeep Kumar, three live cartridges of SLR from Vivek Singh and two live cartridges of .32mm caliber from Raju Pandit. On their revelation, police searched their houses and seized three magazines of 7.65mm, 14 blank cartridges of 7.65mm, one blank cartridge of .38mm, one live cartridge of 3.03mm caliber and three live cartridges of 12mm caliber from the house of Prince Kumar.

The arrested persons informed police about their associate Mithun Singh. Police arrested him from his house near Head Post Offce under Nawada policie station, Ara, and seized one loaded 9mm pistol, three live cartridges and a blank cartridge of 3.15mm caliber from there. The arrested persons confessed before the police that they are involved in sale and purchase of firearms. The SDPO said that police had taken call detailed report (CDR) of the seized mobiles to know about their other associates.
