Buxar : A case of using a four year old boy as cat’s paw by a gang for theft and pickpocketing on running trains came to light in Buxar district when the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF), Buxar, jointly arrested him when he was escaping after stealing valuables of a passenger Mahish Kumar in Farakka Express on August 31, 2018, evening.
On his revelation, police also arrested two women of ‘Sister Gang’ from platform No 2 at Buxar railway station under Danapur Division of East Central Railway (ECR), Hajipur, when they were getting down from the Farakka Express and seized six costly smartphones, a purse, several Identity Cards, ATM cards, a dagger and other stolen articles including an ID, ATM and Aadhar Card of a CRPF personnel from their possession. The arrested women were identified as Radha Devi, 30, wife of Suraj Kumar, and her sister-in-law (nanad) Poonam Devi, 25, wife of Vikas Kumar, of Madhepura district. The child is son of Radha Devi. A named FIR was lodged with GRP, Buxar, on the statement of the passenger Manish Kumar.
Inspector, RPF, Suryavansh Prasad, said that he got information about the ‘Sister Gang’ and when Radha and Poonam got down from Farakka Express at Buxar railway station and were waiting for the child, the police quizzed them. At this, they tried to escape but police chased and caught them.
During their interrogation, Radha Devi and Poonam Devi disclosed before police that they worked for a ‘Sister Gang’ and a woman is the mastermind of the gang. They said that they operated between Barauni to Katihar, Katihar to Rajendra Nagar Terminal and from there to Buxar. They said they used first develop some contact with the long distance passengers in the AC and Sleeper bogies and with the help Radha’s son, they executed their plans and robbed the passengers of their valuables and wallets and added that after execution of their plan, they changed the bogies.
SHO, Buxar GRP, Kamlesh Rai, said that the arrested women were produced before the court and were sent to Buxar jail under judicial custody
