Sitamarhi : Nanpur police in Sitamarhi District in North Bihar on October 3, 2021, arrested 17 supporters of newly elected Mukhia of Gauri Panchayat Yogendra Mandal for allegedly attacking a police team headed an ASI on October 2, 2021, when it asked them to disperse to comply with the Covid-19 protocol and also asked the DJ to stop playing musical instruments. All of them were arrested from village Gauri.

Gauri Panchayat Mukhia Yogendra Mandal’s Panchayat election results was declared on October 1, 2021, and his followers took out a victory procession on October 2, 2021, with DJ playing musical instruments.

Nanpur police had deputed a police team headed by ASI R K Yadav to maintain law and order on the occasion. The police team intervened and asked the processionists to disperse and DJ to stop playing songs. The police personnel asked the Mukhia supporters to follow Covid-19 guidelines. This infuriated them and they chased the police team and allegedly misbehaved with them. The processionists continued their journey with the DJ. Police arrested 17 of them on October 3 and are searching for several others.
