Police arrest 11 notorious criminals in Atul Shahi murder case

Muzaffarpur : Police, in a major development, have arrested 11 notorious criminals including two from Chandigarh and nine different parts of Muzaffarpur the district in connection with murder of contractor Atul Shahi under Mithanpura police station on April 6, 2017.

It was alleged that gangster Anjani Kumar Thakur and other members of his gang were involved in the killing of Atul Shahi. Muzaffarpur SSP Vivek Kumar while addressing mediapersons on May 12, 2017, said that the district police and STF while searching for Anjani Thakur arrested his two sharpshooters : Ankit Kumar and Subhash Thakur, from New Darshanibagh Manimajra, Chandigarh, on May 7, 2017.

They were brought over to Muzaffarpur on May 11, 2017, on transit remand and were interrogated by police officials. On their revelation, police arrested nine notorious criminals including Badri Ojha from different parts the district during the last few days, SSP Vivek Kumar said adding that during raid conducted  at Ojha’s Mithanpura residence police seized magazine of AK 47 besides 30 live rounds. Police also seized several firearms including two 7.6 mm pistols, 34 live rounds of 7.6 mm pistol, one 9mm pistol and four live rounds and two countrymade pistols and a Samsung cellphone, SSP Kumar said.

The SSP said that 11 arrested criminals are : Ankit Kumar, Subhash Thakur, Badri Ojha, Vikas Kumar, Gopal Kumar, Ranjit Thakur, Alok Tiwary, Rahul Kumar, Birendra Mishra, Kundan Kumar and Ashutosh Prakash. Police team, which arrested the 11 criminals, included DSP (East), Muttafiq Ahmad, DSP (West) Ashish Anand, SI Amit Kumar, Inspector Vijay Kumar, SI Upendra Kumar, SI Dhananjay Kumar and SI Madan Kumar Singh.
