New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 23, 2018, condoled the loss of lives due to Tsunami after the eruption of a volcano in Indonesia.

“Saddened by the loss of lives and destruction in Indonesia caused by the Tsunami after the eruption of a volcano. Condolences to the bereaved families and wishing the injured an early recovery. India is ready to assist our maritime neighbour and friend in relief work,” the Prime Minister said, according to a PIB release.

About 222 people were dead and around 700 injured after a volcano-triggered tsunami hit beaches around Indonesia’s Sunda Strait.
