New Delhi : PM Narendra Modi on July 20, 2019, condoled the demise of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, 81.“ Deeply saddened by the demise of Sheila Dikshit Ji. Blessed with a warm and affable personality, she made a noteworthy contribution to Delhi’s development. Condolences to her family and supporters. Om Shanti,” the Prime Minister said, according to a PIB release.
Three-time Delhi chief minister and senior Congress leader Sheila Dikshit passed away July 20, 2019, afternoon, at a private hospital in Delhi after suffering a cardiac arrest. She breathed her last at 3.55 pm at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, Delhi, where she was brought over on July 20 morning in a critical condition with cardiac arrest, according to Hospital sources. Her body has been kept at her Nizamuddin East residence and the last rites would be performed on July 21, 2019, at the Nigambodh ghat.
Dikshit was president of Delhi Congress. She served as Delhi’s chief minister for 15 years from 1998-2013 and had unsuccessfully contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the North-East Delhi constituency.
