It may be mentioned here that 24 migrant workers were killed and 36 others were injured at Auraiya in UP after two trucks collided around 3 am on May 16, 2020. Auraiya is about 200 km away from Lucknow and 400 km away from Delhi. Both the trucks were carrying the labourers. Most of the migrant labourers in both the vehicles were from Jharkhand and West Bengal, according to sources.

The accident took place when some workers travelling on the truck coming from Delhi stopped on Auraiya-Kanpur Dehat Road to have tea at al shop. At this point of time, a truck coming from Rajasthan hit the stationary vehicle. The intensity of the hit was so huge that both the vehicles turned upside down and fell into a ditch on the roadside.
