New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 29, 2020, condoled the demise of former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Ajit Jogi, 74.

“Shri Ajit Jogi Ji was passionate about public service. This passion made him work hard as a bureaucrat and as a political leader. He strived to bring a positive change in the lives of the poor, especially tribal communities. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family. RIP,” the Prime Minister said, according to a PIB release.

It may be mentioned here that Ajit Jogi, an IAS officer-turned- politician, died on May 29, 2020, at a Raipur hospital where he was being treated for the last 20 days. Jogi, who had slipped into coma, suffered a cardiac arrest in the afternoon and could not be revived, according to the doctors. Jogi, a former Congress leader, was the incumbent MLA from his traditional Marwahi seat. He is survived by his wife Renu Jogi, MLA from Kota constituency, and son Amit, a former MLA.
