Pliskova beats Sakkari to reach final of Italia Open

Patna : World No 7 in WTA rankings Karolina Pliskova, 27, Czech Republic, beat World No 39 Maria Sakkari, 23, Greece, in straight sets in the semi-finals on May 18, 2019, night, to reach the women’s singles final of Italian Open. Pliskova, the 4th seed, beat Sakkari 6-4, 6-4 in the semi-finals at Foro Italico, Rome, Italy. Pliskova will face World No 42 Johanna Konta,, Britain, in the final.

Pliskova broke Sakkari’s service thrice in the match while the latter broke her service once. Pliskova won 5 games in arrow in the match to 3 by Sakkari. Both the players served 2 Aces each in the match. Pliskova won 41 service points to 36 by Sakkari.
