Ara : A physically challenged 18 year old youth allegedly outraged the modesty of a 20 year old deaf and dumb girl at village Teghata under Ara Muffassil police station in Bhojpur district around midnight on June 15, 2017, when she was sleeping in her makeshift house on the roadside. On June 16 morning, when her family members protested, the supporters of the rape accused beat them up.
Later, police brought the girl to Ara Sadar Hospital for medical examination. A named FIR has been lodged with the Woman Police Station in this connection against the accused Langada and his father Md Kalamat but no arrest has so far been made in this regard. SHO, Woman Police Station, Ara, Poonam Kumari said that the accused were absconding but police will very soon arrest them. The family members of the rape accused were pressurising the survivor not to lodge an FIR and when the matter reached to the senior officials, the Woman police station swung into action and lodged the FIR.
