New Delhi : The people across the country have stayed indoors and road, streets, bus stands, markets, and majority of railway stations wore a deserted look with negligible number of vehicles seen on the road on March 22, 2020, in an unprecedented shutdown on PM Narendra Modi’s appeal for a ‘Janata Curfew’ to combat novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic. “Looks like the people have closed ranks to uproot the COVID-19 menace,” PM Narendra Modi said in a tweet.
As the ‘Janata curfew’ got underway at 7 am, millions pf people kept themselves indoors as part of the social distancing exercise to stop the spread of novel Coronavirus. All markets and business establishments except those dealing in essential goods and services are closed for the day. The ‘Janata curfew’ will end at 9 pm.
Ahead of the start of Janata Curfew, PM Narendra Modi said, ” Let us all be a part of this curfew, which will add tremendous strength to the fight against COVID-19 menace”. He said the steps to be taken now will help in the times to come. This is time to ensure social distancing, he said. The people of India have decided we will fight the menace of COVID-19 together, the PM said.
In Bihar, the people have observed complete curfew. It is complete bandh at Patna.
