Patna L World No 18 & 2016 champion Angelique Kerber, 32, Germany, crashed out of Australian Open (AO) 2020 losing to World No 30 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, 28, Russia,in a three-set encounter in 4th round at Margaret Court Arena, Melbourne Park, Melbourne, Victoria, on January 27, 2020.

Pavlyuchenkova stunned stunned 17th seed Kerber, the winner of three Grand Slam titles, 6-7, 7-6, 6-2 to enter the QFs of Australian Open for the third time in her career. TheRussian won 5 break points in the match to 3 by the German. She also won 5 games in a row in the match to 4 by the German, who had also won US Open title in 2016 and Wimbledon title in 2018.

The Russian fired 4 Aces in the match to 2 by Kerber. The German committed 6 double faults during the match to 3 by Pavlyuchenkova. Kerber, however, won 83 service points to 65 by the Russian. Pavlyuchenkova will face 2017 Wimbledon Champion Garbine Muguruza, Spain, in QFs on January 29, 2020.
