Bettiah : Chief Justice of Patna high court Mukesh R Shah on September 8, 2018, said that the Lok Adalat was formed under the Legal Services Authority Act for providing  free legal service to the people meeting the criteria. It could be possible only with co-operation from the judicial officials and advocates, he said.

.lok Adalat is a free and easy processes to get justice in a very short period through amicable settlement between both the parties maintaining brotherhood and good will among them, Chief Justice Shah said at Bettiah while inaugurating the Legal Services Authority’s double storey building.

Chief Justice Shah hails from Gujarat from where Mahatma Gandhi had come to Champaran and freed India from Indigo planters. The Chief Justice said that he was following in the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi and will spread goodwill, brotherhood, harmony and remove unrest from the society by ensuring free legal aid to eligible litigants. Justices Ravi Ranjan, Chakradhari Sharan, Ashwini Kumar Singh, Ahsanuddin Amanullah, and Dinesh Kumar Singh were also present on the occasion.

The Chief Justice also planted saplings at Officers Colony Park. Earlier, he opened separate Protection of Child from Sexual Offences (POCSO ) court. District and Sessions Judge, West Champaran, Abhimanyu Lal Srivastava, West Champaran DM Nilesh Ramchandra Deore, Chamran Range DIG Lalit Mohan Prasad, West Champaran SP Jayant Kant and other officials were also present there.
