Patna : Pakistan were 139/3 in 61 overs in their first innings at stumps on day 2 of the third test against New Zealand (NZ) on December 4, 208, at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, UAE, with Azhar Ali batting on 62 in 169 balls with 4 fours and Asad Shafiq batting on 26 in 85 balls with 4 fours. Openers Imam-Ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez were out for 9 and zero respectively while Haris Sohail scored 34 in 91 balls with 2 fours. Pakistan still trailĀ  by 135 runs.

For New Zealand, Trent Boult took 2/39 and Tim Southee 1/27. New Zealand were all out for 274 in the first session of the play on December 4 with wicketkeeper B J Watling scoring an unbeaten 77 in 250 balls with 4 fours.
