Patna : Top seed Benoit Paire, France, World No 38 Denis Shapovalov, Canada, World No 41 Hubert Hurkacz, Poland, and World No 47 Andrey Rublev, Russia, entered the quarter-finals of ATP Winston-Salem Open at Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA, on August 22, 2019.

World No 30 Paire edged past World No Ugo Humbert, France, in a three-set encounter  3-6, 7-6, 6-3 in 2 hr 26 minutes in Round of 16. He fired 9 Aces in the match to 4 by Humbert. Paire won 6 break points in the match to 5 by Humbert. Humbert won 6 games in a row to 5 by the top seed. Humbert won 60 service points to 56 by Paire.

Shapovalov beat World No 49 Miomir Kecmanovic, 19, Serbia, 6-2, 6-3 in 76 minutes in Round of 16 firing 8 Aces in the match. He also won 5 break points to 2 by Kecmanovic. Shapovalov won 4 games in a row in the match to 3 by the Serbian.

Hurkacz entered the QFs after his Round of 16 opponent and World No 63 Feliciano Lopez, 37, Spain, retired in the second set due to injury trailing  3-6, 1-3.

Rublev beat World No 46 Sam Querrey, 31, USA, in a tough contest 7-6, 7-6 in Round of 16. Querrey fired 15 Aces in the match to 11 by Rublev. Querrey, however, also committed 6 double faults to 2 by the Russian. Both the players won 2 break points each in the match. Rublev won 3 games in a row in the match to 2 by the American. The Russian won 62 service points to 60 the American.

World No 64 Pablo Carreno Busta, 28, Spain, entered the QFs defeating World N0 48 Lorenzo Sonego, 24, Italy,  7-6, 6-0 in Round of 16. Busta will face Paire in the QFs on August 23, 2019.

World No 82 Steve Johnson, 29, USA, beat World N0 54 Casper Ruud, 20, Norway, 6-2, 7-6 to enter the QFs. Johnson fired 10 Aces in the match to just 1 by Ruud. The American won 3 break points to 1 by Ruud. Johnson won 6 games in a row in the match to 2 by Ruud.

John Millman, Australia, and Frances Tiafoe, USA, have also entered the QFs. Johnson will face Millman in QFs while while Tiafoe will face Hurkacz.  Rublev will face Shapovalov in QFs.
