Buxar : Over two dozen Congress activists were injured in lathicharge by police at Quila Maidan, Buxar, on June 12, 2017.

A progamme ‘Sabka sath Sabka Vikas’ was organized at Quila Maidan, Buxar, to mark the completion of three years of NDA government headed by PM Narendra Modi at the centre. But, before the start of the programme, dozens of activists of the Congress reached the venue and strongly objected to inclusion of the name of Congress MLA Sanjay Kumar in the invitation card. They went on rampage, broke chairs and also pelted cops and the people present there with stones.

When all efforts by the Buxar district administration to pacify them failed, SDPO Shaishav Yadav ordered for lathicharge. The policemen chased the congress activists and caned them in which over two dozen activists were injured. Later, the situation was brought under control due to the efforts of  Buxar SP Upendra Sharma. The SP said that action would be taken against those responsible for disturbing law and order.

Ajay Kumar Mishra, a social activist, said that the congress MLA was invited as it was a government function. On the other hand, the BJP condemned the incident saying it clearly suggested the Congress was acting in frustration.
