Opelka stuns Isner to reach QFs of ATP Atlanta Open

Patna : World No 57 Reilly Opelka, 21, USA, stunned World No 14 and top seed John Isner, 34, USA, in the second round to enter the quarter-finals of Atlanta Open, an ATP 250 points tournament, Atlanta, USA, on July 25, 2019.  There was no service break in the match and all the three sets went to the tiebreak.

Opelka beat Isner a three-set thriller 7-6, 6-7, 7-6 in 2hr 33 minutes in the second round. Isner had won ATP Hall of Fame singles title in USA last week. Isner fired 33 Aces in the match to 31 by Opelka.Isner, however, committed 8 double faults to 3 by Opelka. Opelka won 90 service points to 85 by Isner.

Opelka will face World No 55 Dan Evans, 29, UK, in the QFs on July 26, 2019. Evans beat World No 42 Radu Albot, 29, Moldova, in three sets 7-6, 5-7, 6-2 in the second round.
