New Delhi : Only 8,635 new Covid-19 cases  were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,07,66,245 cases in the country at 8 am on February 2, 2021. In sharp contrast, 13,423 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in last 24 hours in India taking the tally to 1,04,48,406 in the country on February 2, 2021, exceeding the number of active cases ( 1,63,353) by a massive margin of 1,02,85,053. On February 2, 2021, the active cases accounted for just 1.52% of the total Covid-19 cases ( 1,07,66,245) recorded so far in India, a drop of 4,882 cases in last 24 hours.

Of the  1,07,66,245 Covid-19 cases recorded in the country, altogether 1,04,48,406 patients have been declared cured so far with the recovery rate (RR) being 97.05%. India has tested 19,77,52,057 samples so far including 6,59,422 samples on February 1, 2021. Meanwhile, 39,50,156 Corona Warriors have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country so far including 1,91,313 beneficiaries on February 1, 2021.

The Covid-19 toll increased to 1,54,486 in India on February 2, 2021, with only 94 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 27 in Maharashtra, 17 in Kerala, 7 in Tamilnadu, 6 in West Bengal, 5 in Chhattisgarh, 4 in Uttar Pradesh, 4 in Uttarakhand, 4 in Haryana, 3 in Delhi, 3 in Karnataka, 3 in Puducherry, 2 in Madhya Pradesh,  2 in Bihar, 1 in Punjab, 1 in Gujarat, 1 in Andhra Pradesh, 1 in Assam, and 1 in Jharkhand. India had recorded 118 new deaths on February 1, 2021., The case fatality rate dropped to 1.43% in India on February 2, 2021.
