One tourist killed, 20 others injured in Sitamarhi accident

Sitamarhi : One tourist died while 20 pilgrims sustained injuries in a head-on collision between a sand laden truck and tourist bus near village Bhanaspatti on NH 77 under Runnisaidpur police station in Sitamarhi district on January 13, 2019, morning.The driver of the bus Dinesh Chandra Pandey, 40, a resident of Rishikesh, died on the spot. The truck driver and 20 bus passengers were admitted to Sri Krishna Medical College & Hospital (SKMCH), Muzaffarpur.
Altogether 160 pilgrims in four buses from Uttarakhand state were returning to Haridwar after paying respect to Goddess Janaki at Sitamarhi. Most of the pilgrims are native of Uttarkashi and Tehri-Garhwal districts of Uttarakhand. The buses were going to Muzaffarpur and the truck was on way to Sitamarhi.
Runnisaidpur police under the leadership of Inspector Gorakh Ram and the local Block Development Officer arranged for ambulances to rush the injured persons to SKMCH, Muzaffarpur.
