Sitamarhi : A Sitamarhi resident Vikesh Rai, 50, was killed and two others injured in firing by Nepal police near Jankinagar-Lalbandi international border pillar 319/24 in Nepal side at 8.15 on June 12, 2020. It all started with a tiff between residents of Janakinagar and Sahorwa villages under Sonbarsa police station in Sitamarhi District in North Bihar and Nepal police followed firing by the latter.
Vikesh Rai, who had sustained bullet injuries, was a native of Pipara Parsaee under Sonbarsa police station in Sitamarhi District. He died during treatment at a Nursing Home at Sitamarhi. The injured were identified as Uday Sharma of village Sahorwa and Umesh Ram of village Janakinagar, both falling under Sonbarsa police station in Sitamarhi District.They are undergoing treatment at Sitamarhi. Both of them had sustained bullet injuries.
SSB personnel and Sitamarhi police officials are camping at the place of occurrence and investigation is underway. Senior officials of Nepal police are also there.
Sources said a few farmers of Janakinagar, Lalbandi and Sahorwa villages under Sonbarsa police station were working in fields both in Indian side as well as Nepal side. Incidentally, half of the village Lalbandi falls in Nepal side. Meanwhile, the Nepal police reached there. A quarrel started between Sitamarhi villagers and Nepal police after which the former allegedly crossed the border. Nepal police claimed that they started snatching arms from them forcing them to open fire.
