Ara : One person was killed while two others seriously injured when a speeding truck collided head on with a motorcycle near Western Over Bridge under Nawada police station, Ara, in Bhojpur district, on May 25, 2019. The irate residents of the area blocked the road and also set ablaze the truck.

Police admitted the injured to Ara Sadar Hospital and also brought the body over there for post-mortem. The deceased was identified as Sanjay Prasad, 42, son of Badri Prasad of Bihia under the same police station. One of the two injured persons was  identified as Parmeshwar Prasad of Gajrajganj.

SHO, Nawada police station, said that three persons were returning from Khazurahatta village on a motorcycle after attending  a marriage. When they reached near Western Over Bridge under Nawada police station, a speeding truck collided head on with the bike killing Sanjay Prasad on spot and injuring two others, the SHO said adding after the accident, the irate residents of the area set ablaze the truck and also blocked the road. They also burnt tyres on road and paralysed movement of vehicles for about three hours, he said. They were demanding arrest of the driver of the truck and a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased. The blockade was lifted after positive response from police officers. Police summoned the fire tender and controlled the fire.
