Bettiah : Sanjiv Sao, 30, of village Ramnagar, was killed on spot while two other occupants of a motorbike: Samsher Alam, 26, and Arif Alam, 24, of the same village sustained serious injuries when the bike they were riding fell down from the dilapidated Khotoli bridge on May 5, 2017. They were returning home after attending a marriage from village Gonauli under Lauria police station in West Champaran district.
Police sent the body for autopsy to MJK hospital, Bettiah, and admitted the injured to Primary health centre (PHC), at Lauria. The residents of Gonauli, Dumara and Bhriharawa blocked Lauria-Bagaha road and paralysed the traffic for several hours after getting information about the mishap.They were demanding construction of new bridge dismantaling the old Khatoli bridge. Shasi Kumar, Mannu Pandey and others alleged that the old bridge had taken seven lives in last few month. BlockDevelopment Officer (BDO), Lauria, Chandan Prasad and Lauria police station SHO Arjun Kumar along with police force reached the spot and persuaded the villagers to lift the blockade.
