Ara : One person was killed and another injured when a speeding truck collided head-on with a motorcycle near village Tulasi on Ara-Mohania NH-30 under Jagdishpur police station (PS) in Bhojpur District in South Bihar on August 7, 2021, afternoon. Police seized the truck though its driver escaped from the place of occurrence.  The injured was admitted to Jagdishpur Sub-Divisional Hospital.

The deceased was identified as former Mukhiya, Parasiya panchayat, Ramashankar Choubey 58, son of late Bindeshwari Choubey of village Hatpokhar under Jagdishpur PS. The injured has been identified as Parshuram Choubey, 68, of the same village.

As the news about the accident spread, the villagers got agitated and blocked Ara-Mohania main road with the bodyparalysing the movement of the traffic. They raised slogans against the District Administration and demanded a compensation of Rs 12 lakh and a government job to the next kin of the deceased. The blockade was lifted after positive response from the police officers. Later, police recovered the body and brought it over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.

SHO, Jagdishpur PS, said that Ramashankar Choubey along with Parshuram Choubey had gone tomeet  his daughter’s in-laws at Bhelai village under Udwantnagar PS. They were returning on August 7, 2021, afternoon on a motorcycle and when they reached near village Tulasi, a speeding truck collided head-on with their motorcycle killing former Mukhiya Ramashankar Choubey on the spot and injuring  pillion rider Parshuram Choubey.
