Patna : World No 3 Nozomi Okuhara, 24, Japan, and World No 1 Tai Tzu Ying, 25, Chinese Taipei, won their respective Group B matches in HSBC BWF World Tour Finals at Gungzhou, China, on December 13, 2019. With it, Okuhara has won all her three GroupĀ  B matches to enter the semi-finals. Tai Tzu has won two out of three of her Group matches to enter the SFs from Group B.

Nozomi Okuhara, the 2017 World Champion, beat World No 5 and 2013 World Champion Ratchanok Intanon, 24, Thailand, in straight games 21-14, 21-12 in 40 minutes at Tianhe Gymnasium, Guangzhou, on December 13 in her Group B match. Okuhara won 42 rallies in the match to 26 by Intanon. She won 8 consecutive points in the match to 3 by Intanon. Okuhara now leads Intanon 9-6 Head to Head.

Tai Tzu Ying beat World No 16 Busanan Ongbamrungphan, 23, Thailand, 21-14, 21-9 in 31 minutes in another Group B match. Tai Tzu won 42 rallies in the match to 23 by Ongbamrungphan. She won 6 consecutive points in the match to 4 by the Thai, who lost all her three Group matches. Tai Tzu now leads Ongbamrungphan 10-3 Head to Head.
