Gurugram ( Haryana) : New Zealand (NZ) struggled to score 237/6 in 50 overs against Pakistan in the 33rd match of CWC at Edgbaston, Birmingham, UK, on June 26, 2019, with James Neesham scoring an unbeaten 97 in 112 balls hitting 5 fours and 3 sixes and Colin de Grandhomme scoring 64 ( run out) in 71 balls with 6 fours and a six.

New Zealand had lost five wickets with only 83 runs on the board on a difficult wicket but Neesham and Grandhomme added 132 runs for the 6th wicket to bring the team back into the match. They were particularly severe on fast bowlers Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz. Amir took 1/67 in 10 overs while Wahab leaked away 55 runs in 10 overs without taking a wicket.

Opting to bat after winning the toss, NZ lost their wicket first wicket that of opener Martin Guptil on 5. Guptil fell to Amir for 5. NZ lost their second wicket that of opener Colin Munro at 24. Munro fell to Shaheen Afridi for 12. Ross Taylor fell to Afridi for 3 making it 38/3. Tom Latham (wk) also fell to Afridi for 1 and it was 46/4. Captain Kane Williamson fell to spinner Shadab Khan for 41 and it was 83/5.

For NZ, Shaheen Afridi took 3/28 in 10 overs while Mohammad Amir and Shadab Khan took one wicket each.
