Replying to Pakistan’s 163/6 in 20 overs powered by an unbeaten 99 in 57 balls with 10 fours and 5 sixes by veteran Mohd Hafeez, 40, NZ scored 164/1 in 19.2 overs as opener Tim Seifert scored an unbeaten 84 in 63 balls hitting 8 fours and 2 sixes, his back to back fifty, while captain Kane Williamson scored an unbeaten 57 in 42 balls with 8 fours and 1 six, his 12th T20I fifty. Opener Martin Guptil scored 21 in 11 balls hitting 1 four and 2 sixes.

Williamson hit fast bowler Haris Rauf for 2 fours and 1 six in his 3rd over, the 13th of the innings. Seifert hit fast bowler Wahaz Riaz for three sixes in his first over, the 7th of the innings. Williamson and Seifert added 129 runs in their unbroken partnership for the 2nd wicket.

Hafeez missed out on a century even as he hit 2 sixes and 1 four in the last over bowled by fast medium bowler Kyle Jamieson, 25. Southee described Hafeez’s knock as exceptional.
