Patna : New Zealand (NZ) crushed Bangladesh by an innings and 12 runs in the 2nd test at Basin Reserve, Wellington, New Zealand, on day 5 of the match on March 12, 2019, to take a 2-0 lead in the three-match test series. Ross Taylor was named Player of the Match.

Resuming at their overnight score of 80/3, Bangladesh, who had scored 211 in their first innings, were all out for 209 in their second innings on the last day of the rain shortened match. Neil Wagner, who had taken 4 wickets in Bangladesh first innings, took 5/45 in second innings. Trent Boult, who had taken 3 wickets in first innings, took 4/52 in second.

For Bangladesh, Captain Mahmudullah scored 67 while Mohammad Mithun scored 47. Opener Tamim Iqbal made 4 while his opening partner Shadman Islam scored 29. Soumya Sarkar made 28.

New Zealand had declared their first innings at 432/6 with Ross Taylor scoring 200, his 3rd double test century, and Henry Nichollas scoring 107, his 5th test ton.
