Patna : New Zealand (NZ) thumped West Indies (WI) by an innings and 12 runs in the 2nd test at Basin Reserve, Wellington, NZ, on the fourth day of the match on December 14, 2020, to win the two- match series 2-0. NZ batsman Henry Nicholls, who scored 174 runs in the match, was named Player Of The Match while fast bowler Kyle Jamieson was declared Player Of The Series. NZ had won the 1st test by an innings and 134 runs. NZ have jumped to No 1 position in tests with this win.

WI , who had scored 131 in their first innings, were all out for 317 in their second innings with opener John Campbell scoring 68, captain Jason Holder scoring 61, Joshua Da Silva (wk) scoring 57, and Alzarri Joseph scoring 24. Trent Boult took 3/96 while Neil Wagner took 3/54. Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson took two wickets each.   NZ had scored 460 runs in their first innings.
