Patna : New Zealand (NZ) beat India by 22 runs in the 2nd ODI at Eden Park, Auckland, NZ, on February 8, 2020, to take an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match series Ravindra Jadeja and fast bowler Navdeep Saini’s excellent batting notwithstanding. NZ has won an ODI  series against India for the first time since 2014.Chasing a target of 274 runs, India were all out for 251 runs in 48.3 overs. India had won the toss but opted to bowl. NZ fast bowler Kyye Jamieson, who was playing his first ODI, was declared Player of the Match. He took his first wicket in his first over.

Jadeja and Saini added 76 runs for the 8th wicket. Saini fell to fast bowler Kyle Jamieson for 45 in 49 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Saini hit Colin de Grandhomme for 3 fours in his 10th over. All-rounder Jadeja fell to medium pacer James Neesham for 55 in 73 balls with 2 fours and a six.

Jadeja -Saini partnership was the only highlight of the Indian innings as captain Virat Kohli fell to Tim Southee for 15 while Lokesh Rahul 9 (wk) fell to Grandhomme for 4. Kedar Jadhav fell to Southee for 9. Jadeja added 22 runs for the 9th wicket with Yuzvendra Chahal. Chahal was run out for 10.

For NZ, Tim Southee, Hamish Bennett, Colin de Grandhomme, and Kyle Jamieson took two wickets each while James Neesham took one wicket.

Earlier batting first, NZ scored 273/8 in 50 overs with Toss Taylor scoring an unbeaten 73 in 74 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes while opener Martin Guptil scored 79 in 79 balls hitting 8 fours and 3 sixes. Opener Henry Nicholls scored 41.  Chahal took 3/58.
