Patna : New Zealand (NZ), chasing a target of 166 runs, were 92/1 after 11 overs in the 4th T20I against India at Sky Stadium, Wellington, NZ, on January 31, 2020, with opener Colin Munro batting on 62 hitting 6 fours and 3 sixes and  Tim Seifert (wk) unbeaten on 20 runs hitting 2 fours and a six respectively. Opener Martin Guptil fell to fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah for 4.

Munro hit fast bowler Shardul Thakur for a six and 2 fours on successive balls in his 2nd over. Seifert Munro also hit spinner Washington Sundar for a six and a four in his first over.  Munro then hit spinner Washington Sundar in his second over.  Seifert hit spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for a six in his second over. Munro also hit Navdeep Saini for 2 fours in his third over. NZ had won the toss but opted to bowl.

Earlier batting first, India scored 165/8 in 20 overs with Manish Pandey scoring an unbeaten 50 in 36 balls hitting 3 fours while fast bowler Navdeep Saini remained unbeaten on 11 in 9 balls with 2 fours.India lost their first wicket at 14 when Sanju Samson fell to fast bowler Scott Kuggeleijn for 8with a six. Captain Virat Kohli fell to fast bowler Hamish Bennett for 11 with 2 fours making it 48/2. Kohli added 34 runs with Lokesh Rahul for the 2nd wicket.

Shreyas Iyer fell to spinner Ish Sodhi for 1 and it was 52/3. Rahul too fell to Sodhi for 39 in 26 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes making it 75/4. All-rounder Shivam Dube also fell to Sodhi for 12 with 2 fours and it was 84/5. Spinner Washington Sundar fell to spinner Mitchell Santner for a duck and it was 88/6. Fast bowler Shardul Thakur fell to Bennett for 20 in 15 balls with 2 fours and it was 131/7. Thakur added 43 runs with Manish Pandey for 7th wicket. Spinner Uzvendra Chahal fell to pacer Tim Southee for 1 making it 143/8. Pandey and Navdeep Saini added 22 runs for 9th wicket in their unbroken partnership.

For NZ, Hamish Bennett took 2/41 in 4 overs while spinner Ish Sodhi took 3/26 in 4 overs.  Southee, Scott Kuggeleijn, and Mitchell Santner took one wicket each.

India rested Rohit Sharma, spinner Ravindra Jadeja, and fast bowler Mohammad Shami, for this match  bringing in Sanju Samson, Washington Sundar, and Navdeep Sani.
